A Day of Confirmation at St George’s
On Sunday 14th September, we will gather at St George the Martyr for a joyful and significant moment in the life of our church: our Confirmation service.
Confirmation is a milestone in Christian faith. It is the point at which individuals who have been baptised take the step of affirming their faith publicly, committing themselves to the journey of following Christ, and receiving the strengthening gift of the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by the Bishop of Woolwich.
This is not only a personal step for those being confirmed, but a moment for the whole church community. We are reminded that our stories are held within God’s great story, and that together we are called to witness to God’s grace in the world.
The liturgy of Confirmation carries a profound beauty: prayer, silence, the renewing of baptismal promises, and the bishop’s blessing. It is an occasion when heaven and earth seem to touch.
We warmly invite you to join us for this service. Whether you are there to support those being confirmed, to renew your own baptismal vows, or simply to rejoice in God’s goodness, your presence will make this day even more special.
