St Luke and a Mass with prayer for healing 18.10.2026

What are we asking for when we pray for healing?

This Sunday, 18 October, we celebrate St Luke the Evangelist at our 11am Parish Mass, with an opportunity to receive prayer, the laying on of hands and anointing with holy oil.

In the Gospel, Jesus sends his disciples to heal the sick and announce that the kingdom of God has come near. Every healing is a sign of what God intends for the whole creation. Our own lives, with everything that hurts or remains unresolved, belong within that larger promise.

You may be living with illness, carrying grief, concerned for someone you love, or simply finding life difficult. You are welcome to bring all of that into prayer. You do not need to have the right words or explain your circumstances.

Receiving prayer and anointing is entirely optional. You are equally welcome to remain in your place and pray quietly.
