This Sunday will be a particularly joyful one at St George’s

At the 11am Parish Mass we will celebrate the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary and baptise Amare and Michael.

There is something very fitting about celebrating Mary’s birthday on a day when we also welcome two people into the life of the Church through baptism. Both remind us that the Christian faith is about God taking flesh in ordinary human lives.

Mary says yes to God, and Christ is born into the world. In baptism, we are joined to that same Christ and begin a new life in him.

So on Sunday we will gather around the font, pour water, make the sign of the cross, light candles and welcome Amare and Michael into the family of the Church. And, as we do so, we are reminded of our own baptism and of the life we share together in Christ.

The Godwine Choir will also be with us, singing music including John Rutter’s The Lord Bless You and Keep You.

It should be a very special morning.
